Karen was born and educated in London where she trained as an Architect and worked for BBC Television as a Set Designer during the 1970's.
In 1978 she started her own company hand printing wallpapers. The business specialised in reproducing wallpaper from historical documents. Gradually building a reputation for her work she was commissioned by English Heritage to make papers for Osbourne House in the Isle of Wight, for the Queen’s house Frogmore in Windsor Park, and by many other interesting and prestigious projects.
Whilst designing and creating her first four wallpaper collections, she was appointed screen printing Consultant to Cole & Son ( Wallpapers) Ltd. During this time she produced the Archive Collection from the company's world-renown historical archive.
In 2000 she became Cole's Creative Director designing and producing 24 collections including the New Contemporary, Fornasetti, Tom Dixon & Habitat, and the Vivienne Westwood Collections. After ten highly successful years she decided to open up new avenues for her creativity and left to pursue a freelance career. Here first commissions were designing the first wallpaper collections for Swarovski Elements and for Miller Harris.
